7:28

It`s 7:28, there`s an open window in Downing street
Thousand ears are listening to the distant detonation
One hundred twenty thousand British lions are waiting
With their walking sticks, marching in their death,
In the end, in the blackest day
Lions led by donkeys, following insane orders

Twenty thousand lions die for donkeys,
Death by machine gun fire
Crowd for crowd, running through the no-man’s-land
Attack after attack, over the Thiepval-Ridge

Fight for the motherland
Verreck' für das Vaterland
Mort pour la patrie
This is the Battle of the Somme

Seven days of relentless Trommelfeuer
Ending at the day at La Boisselle
The Carnage begins at Lochnagar-Mine
The river is turning red

One million souls were pushed through the meat-grinder
Man versus man for Meter after Meter
Half a year death`s scythe has been fed
A river flows through hell on earth
Hell on earth

Fight for the motherland
Verreck' für das Vaterland
Mort pour la patrie
This is the Battle of the Somme
